Neyriz county — Fars’ second rain-fed fig hub with 5–8k ha orchards, grade tables, Tarem/Palangan matrix, and six sorting, cold-store and export units with contacts.
Neyriz county in eastern Fars is Iran’s second strategic rain-fed fig hub and a major genetic reservoir of organic orchards — 5,000–8,000 ha planted with 5,000–6,500 ha bearing.
In favourable years dry output reaches 4,000–7,000 t; drought and rainfall below 80 mm can cut yields to 1,500–2,000 t. The Sabz cultivar is grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers.

Blastophaga psenes transfers pollen from caprifigs; Qasemi and White-seed caprifigs sourced from Ej and Estahban in May–July.
Native Sabz cultivar in organic rain-fed orchards; picking mid-August through late November.
Debris removal; size and ostiole split grading in urban workshops and sorting lines.
Stored-product pest control; controlled atmosphere to keep cream-to-yellow skin colour.
Limits caramelisation; 101 AAA through closed-bud grades for China, Gulf and EU buyers.
Most tonnage leaves as bulk to Estahban and Shiraz plants and is packed under neighbouring brands — similar physical quality but weak standalone Neyriz identity.
Weak cold chain darkens skins and downgrades lots; Sohrabi’s dedicated store and new private cold rooms help. Indian meal moth and mites require fumigation at 2–5 °C.
Registering a protected GI for Neyriz rain-fed fig at WIPO is key to attract investment and distinguish from Estahban branding.
Food zones in Ghadirgeh and stone industrial towns plus Deh Fazel can absorb surplus fig/pomegranate tonnage via powder, paste and syrup lines.
