Corn flour value chain in Tehran Province
Corn milling in Iran has shifted from wheat-centric lines to specialty dry flour and starch fractions. Tehran Province concentrates HQs, trade and retail packing in the capital while heavy dry mills sit in Malard, Rey, Pakdasht and Robat Karim — supplying household, industrial and gluten-free grades.
Imported and domestic corn reaches Shourabad silos and western Tehran plants via southern ports and freeways; extruded snacks, tortillas, gluten-free SKUs and meat extenders drive low-fat and nixtamalized grades.
Corn flour must not be confused with corn starch: starch is pure polysaccharide, while corn flour is milled endosperm rich in zein protein, fibre and kernel carotenoids.
