Estahban County in eastern Fars hosts the world’s largest rain-fed fig orchards and Iran’s fourth GIAHS site — about 25,950 ha, 4,100+ grower households and 16–22 kt dried fig in good years.
Roughly 90–95% of Iran’s dried fig exports originate here; climate volatility and bulk raw sales push cold chain, industrial processing and mechanised packing to the top of the agenda.
