Azna County in eastern Lorestan Province, with the alluvial Japleq (Gapeleh) and Pachehlak plains and mild foothill climate, is a strategic hub for legumes—especially pinto beans. Annual harvest of 25–27 thousand tonnes covers about half of provincial and roughly 15% of national bean output.

Yields exceed provincial averages thanks to mechanisation, pressurised irrigation and soil nutrition. Large-kernel, thin-skinned pinto beans drive wholesale and canning demand, yet most packaging margin still flows to intermediaries outside the county—especially Khomein traders.
