Orchard ecology & Sari’s role in northern citrus chains
Sari County — Mazandaran’s political and economic centre — is a core Caspian citrus belt. Thomson navel oranges dominate plantings thanks to large calibres, seedlessness and strong post-harvest life, anchoring the county’s commercial horticulture.
Orchards cluster in Dasht Naz, the sea-road corridor (Farahabad–Aliwak), Gohrebaran, Golma and Tanglate. Sari customs, rail links and ports (Amirabad, Nowshahr) move roughly a quarter of provincial citrus exports.

Domestic trade, regulation & export lanes
Domestic supply runs through Sari’s new 21 ha produce terminal (155 stalls) into Tehran, Isfahan, Mashhad and Tabriz. The Mazandaran growers’ union runs collective Thomson purchase (30–40 kt provincial) for New Year cold release. Exports to Russia, EAEU, Iraq and the Gulf use reefer boxes and Sari phytosanitary clearance.
