Ravansar County at the gateway to Hawraman in northwest Kermanshah is a core rain-fed and irrigated pulse belt in the Qareh Su and central Zagros basins. Its deep loamy soils place Ravansar among Iran’s top five chickpea hubs alongside Songhor, Dalahu, Eslamabad-e Gharb and Kermanshah city.
Annual chickpea area swings between 8,000 and 17,000 hectares with peak harvest capacity near 17,000 tonnes. Rhizobium nitrogen fixation supports wheat rotation; the shift to fall planting with tall cultivars and zero-to-harvest mechanization has sharply raised farm productivity.
